Why is your silicone doll heavy and hard

Before Starpery successfully launched the weight reduction technology, the weight of silicone dolls has always been a major pain point in the doll industry and a major problem that troubled lots of doll users. Most of BBW/Chubby enthusiasts were deterred by the weight and were forced to choose some light or distorted-proportion dolls. Starpery has focused on this "century-old" problem since the establishment of the brand. It spent countless days and nights R&D and finally launched the W.R. 3.0 technology to bring good news to fans in 2021. But we know that it isn't the end of doll weight reduction, there are still many things that need to be improved. A few months ago, Starpery shared the research process of W.R. 4.0 technology. In the past two years of research and development, we have encountered countless challenges also received a lot of help and support. We are well aware that the progress of the industry requires joint promotion. In order to let more people understand the rapid development and unlimited possibilities of the sex doll industry, Starpery are willing to share the technical details of W.R. 4.0 without reservation, hoping to drive the progress of the entire industry.

 

*Why is your silicone doll so hard and heavy?

Regular Silicone dolls are usually much heavier than TPE dolls because the density of silicone material is higher than that of TPE material (the density of silicone is 1.2g/cm3, while the density of TPE is 0.8g/cm3). At present, most manufacturers that use weight reduction technology are adopting the traditional W.R. 3.0 technology, which is to use foam core inside the silicone doll. In order to prevent the silicone liquid from penetrating into the foam core and to improve the adhesion between the silicone and the liner, manufacturers always add a layer of TPU knitted fabric on the foamed liner. Although TPU knitted fabric is elastic, it becomes very hard after silicone liquid squeeze the foamed liner and resulted in a decrease in the softness of the doll. From the video, we can see that the hard foam core is one of the main influencing factors why the silicone doll becomes harder after weight reduction. Therefore, in order to make a softer doll, we resolutely removed this layer of knitted cloth to ensure that the inner core is also soft.

 

*How did Starpery achieve the “softer and lighter” weight reduction upgrade?

First of all, we need to solve the softness problem of the foam core. Use the self-skinning of the inner core to form a protective layer to prevent silicone liquid excessive penetration and hardening the inner core surface. Welcome to look at the W.R. 4.0 inner foam core video:

In the video, we can easily see that the W.R. 4.0 foam core is very soft and feels very close to a real person's fat layer.

So far, we have solved the problem of the softness of the liner, but we have not solved the problem of weight. During the pouring process, the traditional foam core will be severely squeezed by the silicone liquid, and the foam core size reduced and the skin surface becomes harder, resulting in a significant reduction in the weight reduction effect. In order to solve this problem, Starpery has developed two new technologies:

A. the first is dual-mold foaming technology. by combining the inner core mold and the body mold to simultaneously bind the skeleton, so that the shape of the foam liner can be more accurately controlled. Then the thickness of the foam core mold is used to control the skin thickness of the silicone doll, so as to achieve more precise control of the skin thickness of the silicone layer.

B. The second tech is the pre-flow channel technology, which pre-grooves the foam core and guides the silicone material to flow slowly from the top, thus perfectly avoiding the silicone material from squeezing the soft core(As shown in the figure below).

Then, by slowly pouring the material through the machine, we can perfectly solve the problem of weight and softness. We also named this technology as weight reduction 4.0 technology (W.R. 4.0). The invention of this tech can completely change the production methods and processes of the whole silicone doll industry. In the meanwhile, it will be learned and adopted by more and more silicone doll factories, thus giving our entire silicone doll industry a huge boost.
